Observe and Report has garnered a certain notoriety, primarily due to its classification as a “comedy” wherein humor tends to gravitate towards the dark and unsettling. The film unfolds a disheartening onscreen “love scene” involving Seth Rogen’s character Ronnie and Anna Faris’s character Brandi.
The term “love scene” is employed loosely here, as the unsettling twist reveals Ronnie engaging in intimate acts with an unconscious Brandi. In a bid to mitigate the discomfort, the filmmakers introduce a moment where Brandi abruptly regains consciousness, questioning Ronnie’s cessation.
