Titanic carried a crew of 908 members. Surprisingly, a larger percentage of the crew perished compared to any other group, except for second- and third-class men. A significant number of them met their fate as the boiler rooms flooded during the initial collision, while others lost their lives in valiant attempts to rescue passengers from below decks. Tragically, all five postmen on board lost their lives in their courageous efforts to safeguard the mail entrusted to their care.
